He who Gathers
Who reunites what was scattered.
The tongue
From j-m-ʿ; jamʿ, the gathering. An active form: the One who gathers.
The reason
He will gather humankind on the promised Day; and already He gathers the opposites within each being (life and death, suffering and joy, day and night).
The Sufi meaning
Al-Jāmiʿ also gathers the scattered heart: jamʿ al-qalb (القَلْب) is inner unification, in which a thousand preoccupations give way to a single presence.
The servant's portion
Gather: what within you is scattered, what around you is divided. Do not be an agent of separation.
