This dictionary draws principally on the Encyclopedia of the technical terms of Islamic Sufism
(Mawsūʿat muṣṭalaḥāt at-taṣawwuf al-islāmī) by Dr Rafīq al-ʿAjam
(Beirut, Maktabat Lubnān Nāshirūn, 1999, 1204 pages) — the major contemporary reference in the Arabic language.
The definitions are synthesised, completed by other sources (Chittick, al-Qāshānī, al-Qushayrī…), and
enriched with questions for meditation.
