The tongue

An augmented form of the same root; iqtidār adds to qudra the notion of effective mastery and of ease.

The reason

What He wills is done, without a necessary intermediary, without gradation, without difficulty.

The Sufi meaning

Where al-Qādir (اَلْقَادِر) says He can, al-Muqtadir says He can absolutely, and without effort. It is the Name of the great reversals — when the oppressor falls in an instant.

The servant's portion

Do not fear the mighty; know that their power is borrowed, and that the reversal is in His hand.
