Name 68 / 100 · ✦ Plenitude
اَلْأَحَد
al-Aḥad

The Unique

Unity of essence, indivisible.

The tongue
From the same root as al-Wāḥid (اَلْوَاحِد), but more radical: aḥad excludes not only multiplicity, but all internal composition.
The reason
Where al-Wāḥid says sole, al-Aḥad says simple — uncompounded, undivisible, with neither inside nor outside.
The Sufi meaning
It is by this Name that sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ opens: Qul huwa-Llāhu Aḥad. Uniqueness is there stated in its pure state.
The servant's portion
Be simple: a single heart, a single intention, a single aim.
