An active form of the root m-j-d (the same as al-Majīd (اَلْمَجِيد)); the nuance: al-Mājid stresses the present act of nobility, al-Majīd the essential attribute.

The nobility of the soul is from Him: futuwwa (الفُتُوَّة) (spiritual chivalry) draws its source from this Name.
