He who Gives Life

Source of all life.

The tongue

From ḥ-y-y; ḥayāt (حَيَاة), life. A causative form: He makes alive.

The reason

Life in all its forms — biological, mental, spiritual — flows from Him at every instant. The dead earth grows green as a sign: so too will hearts.

The Sufi meaning

Al-Muḥyī revives dead hearts: there is a life above biological life, and it is this that the way seeks.

The servant's portion

Give life around you: through your words that encourage, your attention that awakens, your presence that revives.
