The tongue

From q-w-t; qūt (قُوت) is precise, measured nourishment, that which suffices. More targeted than rizq.

The reason

To each being, the exact portion that keeps it alive — neither too much nor too little. The knowledge of this measure escapes creatures entirely.

The Sufi meaning

There is a spiritual qūt: the measure of knowledge, of suffering, of joy that your soul needs today. You receive exactly what keeps you alive — no more, no less.

The servant's portion

Be temperate in consumption, generous in sharing. Give others their just portion.
