اَلنَّافِع
an-Nāfiʿ
He who Benefits
The ultimate source of all good.
The tongue
From n-f-ʿ; nafʿ (نَفْع), benefit, usefulness. An active form: the One who does good.
The reason
No good comes without His being its source. The hands that do you good are His hands.
The Sufi meaning
Aḍ-Ḍārr and an-Nāfiʿ are named together: one must hold to both so as not to fall into dualism. Apparent good and evil come from the same Source, within a single wisdom.
The servant's portion
Be useful. Seek the nafʿ in each of your days — what good have you brought, and to whom?
