A construction in two words: Mālik, possessor; al-Mulk, the kingdom, sovereignty. Possessor of the Kingdom.

The reason

He gives the kingdom to whom He wills, withdraws it from whom He wills: no throne is held for life.

The Sufi meaning

The human being too receives a small kingdom — his body, his time, his gifts. But it is a lent kingdom, for which an account will have to be given.
