The tongue

From ẓ-h-r; ẓuhūr is appearance, the becoming-manifest. Ẓāhir, that which shows itself.

The reason

All that exists is a sign of Him. Creation is a calligraphy — each line says something of it.

The Sufi meaning

He is not hidden behind the world; He is manifest within the world, to whoever knows how to look. The eye of the heart sees Him everywhere, the eye of flesh misses Him everywhere.
