al-Qawī

The Strong

Of a strength without weakness.

The tongue
From q-w-y; quwwa is strength, the capacity to act. A faʿīl (فَعِيل) form: He is Strength in essence, not by accumulation.
The reason
His strength does not tire, does not wear out, meets no equal. It needs no exercise in order to exist.
The Sufi meaning
The servant who leans on al-Qawī receives, within weakness, a strength that is not his own: it passes through the trial by him, more than by his own reserves.
The servant's portion
Take no vanity in your strengths — they are lent. And feel no shame at your weaknesses — they make room for one stronger than you.
