اَلْبَاعِث
al-Bāʿith
He who Resurrects
Who raises up from among the dead.
The tongue
From b-ʿ-th; baʿth is the sending, and more precisely the raising-up — making rise what is lying down.
The reason
He will raise the dead on the promised Day; but already He raises each morning, from the sleep that resembles death, and from deeper sleeps still.
The Sufi meaning
Every spiritual awakening is a small resurrection: a sleeping heart rises again, a hope thought dead breathes anew.
The servant's portion
Raise up what has fallen: a discouraged loved one, an abandoned work, a friendship grown cold.
