اَلْمُعِزّ
al-Muʿizz
He who Honours
Who grants dignity to whom He wills.
The tongue
From ʿ-z-z; a causative form: to make ʿazīz — rare, precious, untouchable.
The reason
True honour comes neither from birth nor from wealth, but from Him alone. Whomever He honours, no one can shame.
The Sufi meaning
The spiritual dignity (ʿizza) of the servant grows as he depends less on creatures. The more he is in need, the less he is free.
The servant's portion
Keep your dignity through poverty toward creatures and richness in God.
