The Most Patient

Whose patience spans the centuries.

The tongue
From ṣ-b-r; ṣabr (صَبْر), patience, the holding firm within the trial. A faʿūl (فَعُول) form: He is essentially and magnificently patient.
The reason
He defers the chastisement, gives time, awaits the return, begins again with whoever begins again. His patience covers our centuries as it covers our seconds.
The Sufi meaning
Of all the virtues, ṣabr is perhaps the most divine: it is cited in the Quran more than 90 times. Without it, no way holds for long.
The servant's portion
Be patient: with others, with yourself, with God (in appearance) — without ascribing any forgetting to Him. Patience is the other name of trust.
